Employment and Training Task Force
CCD ET - TCIEA Support Letter for the Broader Workforce Package 2024

Letter From CCD Rights TF Co-Chairs re ADA Investigations
We, the undersigned Co-Chairs of the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD) Rights Task Force appreciate the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) efforts to enforce and uphold the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In furtherance of these efforts, we write to urge DOJ’s Civil Rights Division to expedite the issuance of findings and resolutions for the Department’s open ADA investigations. The DOJ complaint process plays a crucial role in protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities.

CCD is the largest coalition of national organizations working together to advocate for federal public policy that ensures the self-determination, independence, empowerment, integration, and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of a society free from racism, ableism, sexism, and xenophobia, as well as LGBTQ+ discrimination and religious intolerance.

CCD Board of Directors Statement on the Death of Sonya Massey
The Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD) Board of Directors condemns the murder of Sonya Massey at the hands of a Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy in Illinois. Sonya Massey called 911 to report a potential prowler around her home. Instead of receiving the help she needed, she was shot and killed in her home. According to the bodycam footage, the deputy who killed her told his partner that she would not need medical help immediately after the shooting.1 Sonya was a mother and had a mental health disability.

Developmental Disabilities, Autism and Family Support Task Force
CCD CARES Leadership Letter
The undersigned Members of the CCD Autism, Developmental Disabilities, and Family Support Task Force write in strong support of the Autism CARES Act of 2024 (H.R. 7213), led by Representative Chris Smith and Representative Henry Cuellar urge you to support its swift passage in the House of Representatives under suspension of the rules. This bill builds on years of progress that has been made through previous versions of the Autism CARES Act and will help move forward critical research and training programs that will benefit the estimated 1 in 36 autistic children and 1 in 45 autistic adults in the United States.

Thank you letter to the House Appropriations Committee re removal of ESD provision
We, the undersigned members of the Autism, Developmental Disabilities, and Family Support Task Force and fellow members of the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD), are writing to you today to thank you for removing section 722 of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies funding bill. This provision would have prohibited the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from banning devices or their use to the extent that they are authorized or ordered by a court and thus circumvent decades of advocacy against the use of contingent electric shock on people with disabilities.

Long Term Services and Supports Task Force
CCD Sign-on Letter in Support H.R. 2941, the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act
The undersigned members of the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD) Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Task Force write in support of the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act, a bill that would help to create a standard occupational classification (SOC) for direct support professionals (DSPs). Earlier this year, the Senate passed its version of the legislation, S. 1332, which ensures that when the Office of Management and Budget revises the standard occupational classification system, it considers the importance of a code for DSPs. Now that H.R. 2941 is scheduled for a markup in this Committee, we ask that you support its passage.

Members of the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities advocate for a broad range of federal public policy that ensures the self-determination, independence, empowerment, integration and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of society. CCD’s public policy work is carried out by task forces. Click on the links below to get information on the activities of any individual task force or to contact co-chairs by email.

CCD also has Ad Hoc Task Forces that focus on federal policy but meet on a less frequent basis than official Task Forces and Working Groups that focus on both internal practices for CCD as a coalition and policy.
