Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the Temporary Final Rule (TFR) concerning Further Extension of the Flexibility In Evaluating “Close Proximity of Time” To Evaluate Ongoing Changes in Healthcare published at 90 Fed. Reg. 5582-5590 (Jan. 17, 2025). We laud SSAs decision to extend the flexibility in the “close proximity of time” standard through May 11, 2029. This extension will be useful to many SSDI and SSI disability applicants.

CCD Education Task Force, Reduction in Force at the U.S. Department of Education Statement
The Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities (CCD) Education Task Force Co-Chairs oppose the recent “reduction in force” at the U.S. Department of Education (ED). The March 11 staff reductions affected half of ED’s entire staff—effectively dismantling numerous offices. These harmful actions present significant barriers to ED fulfilling its role in supporting students, educators, and families.

CCD also has Ad Hoc Task Forces that focus on federal policy but meet on a less frequent basis than official Task Forces and Working Groups that focus on both internal practices for CCD as a coalition and policy.
